Bizzart

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is the flyer of a show that my brother set up. Good stuff, I think im excited. Im gona get some personal time with bizzart, well, hes going to be like sleeping in our laundry room kiddo! Our home is homey enough right? Maybe we will give him a fish... But, hey, come to show guys. Bizzart is really good. Gaybot is just kinda nuts. My brothers band will also play there. They are a great story telling indie band that is very enjoyable. Very good music, skilled guys, coming out of their cubby hole. My brother Tom's band is called The Epylog, or The Epylouge, something like that. So come to a break through concert.

The Roost? Heaven forbid I will go and maybe even dance at this horrible place. But I pinky swore I would go. Goodness im horrible. Im a jerk right guys? But a married jerk.

Music n such

Here is a good show to check out on Saturday (7/30)
"Koto & Piano live at Starry Nites Cafe"(696 University Ave, Rochester NY)9pm-11pm http://www.starrynitescafe.com/index.htmKoto–Ryuko Mizutani, Piano–Mamiko Kitaura

A Koto is a traditional Japanese instrument. I have seen one of this girls concerts and is real tight. Real pretty. Its a nice coffee house to I hear. Ryuko's website is http://www.geocities.com/ryukomizutani2002/index.htm

My brother Tom and his girl friend Cory have a band together called Ju-Jajuba. The music is described by tom as powerpop / electronica. I really like their music. They have a couple of songs, one listen able song. Being his brother I get to hear the songs and read the lyrics in the beginning stages. The songs demand interaction and inspire innocence. Check them out at pure volume. Laugh at the photos and read the bio in awe.

Some bits of life

Hey one and all how is it everybody?

I have been daycamping all month long! What a experience. Some people give me funny looks. ":That’s odd" I think to myself. Other people try to hug me. "eeeww". Then I ponder their sincerity. The kids are all cute and little and whiney and demanding and wild. Just like good kids should be. My 9 year olds fight one day and the next day are pinky swearing they will be best friends forever. The girls have crushes and the guys and the guys are kind of clueless. That’s a small part of day camp.

Wegmans is the other side of my money making life. Speaking of wegmans, Friday night after I clocked out and bought some bar soap and bottled I ran into the beloved Priscilla mother of Leah and Isabel. We talked about various things, her summer, my summer, the girls summer and other small talk. Before she was about to go I asked her what she thought of youth group the past Wednesday. You see, the past Wednesday night we had youth group. Her daughter is our worship leader. The night started off with a well known missionary to Columbia talking about her life there and stuff. Then following that we had all-night worship. Reader you must know, worship is a powerful thing. This was a powerful night, full of repentance, joy, and a moving of Gods spirit. It was like nothing else. God was in the room, thick and gooey. It hard to explain to somebody who wasn’t there. You have to be there. Its nothing unusual, don’t think that for a minute. Where was I? Yes, Priscilla at wegmans. I asked her what she thought. and we talked. and it was nice. She is on the adult worship team, the Sunday morning worship team. and gossip is not good haha.

The dog is lying on the floor. Pete and D are talking about Alyssa and youth groups. Sue told me that 'just' should not be a word. I slept in till 2. The family ate dinner on the front porch or the couch. My dad is cooking some fish in a process called Raku. Jim is reading Harry potter. Mike needs some sneakers. Tom is asleep and has a depressed friend. The CD will be recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow is tomorrow and full of tomorrow.

Pittsford oh Pittsford

I was waiting for a ride after work tonight. It was like 10 something at night. I’m in Pittsford mind you, rich, upper class, good-to-do Pittsford. So im waiting and I hear some loud hard core Spanish reggae being blasted from a car somewhere nearby. The sound was kind of distant and It dident take me by surprised because there’s quite a few city folk who work at the store. As the sound faded away is disregarded it altogether, content that it made me feel at home in a foreign and unfamiliar place. But, jump for joy, the comforting music quietly returned. In the distance I mistook it for a black car. I could hear it coming closer and closer. 'aahh' I thought 'come to me, massage my sore sore Pittsford spoiled mind'

So this black car rode up, turned the corner in the parking lot and drove off. I swore this satisfying music would be birthed from a car with that appearance. My belief must of been wrong for as the nice, low riding black car drove past the sound remained in the distance. This puzzled me. I always associated good music with a good car. Today my presumptions would change.
As I said, the black car passed. I’m sure the drivers thought I was a strange boy, just leaning against the video return box with a look of shock, disbelief, and confusion.

Now a quick background on spanish reggae. Not too many people listen to this style of music. This only place to really get the good stuff is from Arab run corner stores, in the heart of the hood. Consequently its generally only listened too in the ghetto of the ghetto. I have never ever seen it or heard it listened to on a real cd, always some mix tape pirated on a common computer. No one, unless they speak Spanish, knows the poor (broke) artists name. They just know its Spanish reggae, it makes them move, and the beat is raw and sick. This being said it is kinda of a underground style. Its getting bigger and more popular no doubt and like all good music it will surely become ruined by POPularity. But not right now. Its currently fresh and on fire. (for a quick history on Spanish reggae go to http://www.harlemlive.org/arts-culture/religion/rootsofspanishreggae/rootsofspanishreggae.html its basically reggae spoken in Spanish)

K

I was eager to find the source of the body moving music. In mid thought a more appropriate looking vehicle approached. It was a nice 1999 or 2000 mini van. The van was a metallic green and the front hood was all white, like it got into a accident and needed a new one. From this suburbia mobile came the source of the mystifying music. It passed me, both front windows open, driven by a gruff but well dressed 38-43 year old man. What I witness was spanish reggae...being played...out of a mini van...in Pittsford. The guy drove around a little, found a parking spot, went in did his shopping, and im sure he drove back home blasting the music for all pittsford-ians to hear. I couldn’t help but quietly laugh out loud.

I have seen some crazy things, but that experience rocked my concept of social structure eternally. I don’t know who the heck that guy was, but if I ever wanted to be closely associated with a suburban it would be that man.

PS some of that story was fictional. I dont hate pittsford. I AM closely associated with suburban ppl.

I will miss some of those seniors, but such is life. I think I got used to ppl leaving. Well stay in touch. Right seniors?
That violin player has a new job and we are working around his schedule to practice. Im filling in for my brothers band this Saturday night at 9 for some cool little...thing. That will be fun. Got two school concerts coming up. Working on that studio, slowly but surely.

This is life

We had a nice little concert on saterday.
We played at the Penny Arcade and I can honestly say we uh kinda rocked that little venue. Im pretty darn critical of myself and my band but we did a awsome job. The first song was a flawless violin-guitar rock song that has a small sing-rap verses. The second was a metaphorical song about a man filled with spiritual pride and discovering the beautiful truth through a close friend, this song is fast and has a nice back and forth 6/8 to 4/4 time switch. The wonderful crowd requested a third song from us, we only planned to do two because we were short on time. So, at their raving request, we ran a piano song, on the spot we thew in a musical interlude somewhere in the middle and at the end. We dident really know how to end that song, we just did. All very nice. JJ and Phil acted a fool for a little bit and we almost started our mocking "Generic Song" that bridges all these musical styles, from pop to reggea to core to speed- punk to work-out-video-music to like hip hop and to latin too i think. The song is the same 4 generic chords but we play every style, the common theme of the song is something along the lines of "God is relevent to the youth and stuff". But it dident go anywhere. It was nice that were all comfertable on stage, in spite of a small crowd.
And why not be comfertable?
We certiantly rock.

Let me leave you with lyrics. Nothing like some puzzeling hard core lyrics to just make you wonder what these guys think when their writing songs.

Norma Jean:

Multitudes, Multitudes In The Valley Of Decision!

They rest on the coast and the die is impending.
We pull at the motionless and static,
but the torrent has crowned their heads.
it fills their ears and it makes them ill.
they do not struggle at all.
This will speak of the end, and will not prove false.
It is time to move on with the weapons of faith and love.
Synchronize your steps to the sound of guns.
This world is damned to hell and it's a revelation.
And this is a shallow grave, adn it's on the highest rise,
We stand on its highest crest.
I'll set myself on fire. Com on, watch me burn.
Poisoned now enough to kill ten hundred men.
The harvester's mouth has not gone dry.
[Joel 3:13-16]

Dark and Cold

Hey one and all,
Nice little spring break. Had a couple band practices, hooked up w/ Nate n Mike, watched an insane Thai movie, and got some work done around this old house.
Last Sunday the 17th was our second Sunday helping out the One Light Service band and the whole Lutheran body (in a way). It’s still very hard to suck it up and play some emotionally dry music. I’m getting used to it; it’s a big step from hymns for these guys. Gota stick with it, im glad were there helping.
This morning Mike P took the band out with him to INDUSTRY, oh and Jeff came and playe d conga's. Nice and tight little group of musicians. I don’t want to say that I enjoyed it, kuz it wouldn’t sound right saying I enjoyed visiting a juvenile correction facility. Maybe it would, i duno. But ill say I had a nice time and I uh would like to return.
The kids want to be there to hear what we Got for em and choose to be there. So in that sense it’s kinda better then an average youth group where the kids just come to get out of the house or come for their parents.
I do just like being there among those kids; it feels like you doing the right thing allthough never enough. You really wana just relate to em and talk to them. When we first arrived it was a very dark and cold atmosphere, it took a while to get a smile out of anyone. The Open Door Mission Baptist church also did there thing: sung a few songs, prayed, read a little from the word. It was way too formal though, not what you need. Good times, real n genuine.
I feel like im just speaking to myself, dont feel like detials.

Okay you readers keep reading, enjoy life

Foreign Language Lyrics

Boys speak in rhythm and girls in code

doo doo doo doo
doo doo doo doo
Tell it to me straight, give it to me now
Face forward, face forward

Boys speak in rhythm and girls in code
doo doo doo doo
doo doo doo doo
Tell it to me straight, give it to me now
Face forward, face forward

Speaking foreign language, nothing I can translate
You're speaking foreign language, nothing I can dictate
doo doo doo doo
doo doo doo doo
you’re speaking foreign language

Boys speak in rhythm and girls just lie
doo doo doo doo Doo doo doo doo
Tell me how you feel, come on out the dark
Then we can head back home and I'll know where to start

Speaking foreign language, nothing I can translate
You're speaking foreign language, nothing I can dictate
Speaking foreign language, nothing I can translate
You're speaking foreign language
Where did we go wrong?
We need medication for this miscommunication
Our conversation's weakened
Our conversation's weakened

Boys speak in rhythm and girls in code
doo doo doo doo
doo doo doo doo

Boys speak in rhythm and girls just lie

Respect, EARN IT.

" You better respect my J!!

Respect my J Chi-Chi!!!

Respect my J!!! "

Some things just humor me beyond the realistic realms of rationality.

One of those things that tickles me beyond the characteristics of reasonableness are when one screams something extremely hood with complete and utter disregarding insensitivity to any nearby, passing by, kind of guy.

Like the quote above for instance. Young Kenny was competing with young Harvey (Chi-Chi) in a basketball shootout during gym class. They would take turns shooting their J's until one missed you see.

So, afterwards in the locker room Kenneth feels the need to point the single thing that Chi-Chi is failing to provide him: respect in relation to his J. He obviously earned this respect earlier in the basketball game, and Harvey simply failed to recognize it.

Please don't ask why I find it funny, its just one of those things. I still bug Kenny about it to this day.

  • A "J" is attempted basketball shot intended to go into the hoop and net from behind the three point line.
  • Hood is simply a variation of the word ghetto. Or you could say something defined as hood could be defined as bursting with youthful rubbish. You choose.

These names were not changed for the safety of the individuals, sorry guys.

For the record don't listen to anything I have to say. I cant be serious.

I said death and you say life,
when I said life, you said demise

so I will never submit to you

I find it’s beneficial
you say it’s not permissible

so I will never take comfort in you

I want a sign, a picture, a miracle, a map
all I see is death, destruction, and disease
the streets are a danger to me
they scare me and confine me

I said it was surely death and you spoke of life,
when I said it brought life, you said it brought demise

you said my eyes were blinding me
I was confound to my vision

how could I understand?

You said take a step
see if the waters warm

taste and see
make it a part of your diet

I thought it was death, but the truth
.. the Truth
the Truth was it was life
a fulfilling life
a lovely life
A life giving life

Hey, just a quick spat.
JJ was talking about "confound to sight" and it was fresh on my mind so I got loose with it.
Pretty weak and defidently unfinished. Maybe il clean it up later. Im not good at following through. With alot of things.

"You cant steer a parked car"

A kid from school asked me to help him and a youth group worship band by playing drums for service they were running in a partner Lutheran church in Geneseo. I was enthusiastic about going to this St. Timeouts building. But the hand I was dealt was a hard one to work with. After the Saturday night show (and after a lot of calling, talking and failed arrangements) me, Scotty, JJ, and Phil drove a car full of equipment to this church to rehearse with the One Light worship band at 1130 and play for the two services in the morning.

Defidently a learning experience. It took a while to get well acquainted with the band we would be assisting, the sound man who invited me, his parents, e.c.t. But we did, luckily it wasn't impossible. They asked JJ to play key's and Phil to play his fiddle thing thing. They kinda reluctantly agreed to help out the best they could.

This was this specific church's first time ever experiencing worship with more then a piano and a old lady singing hymns. I love hymns by the way. So going from that to a 6 piece band was a big step. Most people enjoyed it and hoped the rumors of a "contemporary" worship were true. The ones who didn't approve we obviously didn't here from. But there were those who chose not to sing or smile or do much of anything. Maybe its just Geneseo but they seemed a little critical.

There was one man, a middle aged Scottish accented man that i must write about lest I lose him in a crevice in my mind. He gave us a friendly compliment before the second service because he caught some of the latter end of the first service and apparently highly approved of the whole thing. The pastor guy, after praying for a hand full of sick people, lifted up all prayers "spoken and unspoken". Immediately following this the Scottish man let his wonderful prayer to be heard. He was short, sweet, and spirit lead. He was the only man you could feel an anointing on. Scott sat directly in front of him and said he felt like he was being slapped in the back of his head while the man was praying. I hope he was Scottish because I keep referring to him as the Scottish man. He ended this life changing prayer with "...and thank you Lord for allowing us to worship with you from our spirits, and from our hearts". This guy had it. No Lutherism-ness in him. Maybe he was just an angle sent so we could write a million songs about him and dedicate a album to him or something. He was defidently the man though. Never got his name,

This was my second experience with a church service that was set in stone. The first had a paper showing exactly how the service would unfold-minute by minute. This service at St. Timothy's didn't have the minutes.
I didn't know how to drink the golden wine cup when he handed to me. I had to ask the pastor man what to do. Kinda funny.
Ask me about it if your interested.

Rise up, O men of God!
Have done with lesser things;
Give heart and soul and mine and strength
To serve the King of kings.
I ran into some ancient hymn books and this was a "commintment" i found.

This specific hymn book was from 1951 but iv one from 1906 and another from 1936.
Right now Im a little sick and have been out of school for about 4 days. But im up and running today. Its all good.

Venison

Hey guys,
pretty chill day

About 10 minutes ago my dad brought in two dead deer. Like with fur and everything. His friend got them from an apple orchard and well gave em to us. So my bothers and two friends had to go out and help carry these things back to the shed. (Um yes we live in the city) luckily I was far too busy baking brownies to help carry these bambies to our bargain slaughter house. (making brownies is not feminine, i just want some brownies you know?) Soon my dad will cut those suckers up and well be eating em in some form or another just about every night. Venison. This is something that I had to to get used to; I am still a little uncomfortable with the whole thing. Im no activist or anything its just some raw stuff.

Disbelief

Hey kids,

This morning I awoke at around 4:30. No im not kidding. I couldent sleep. So I washed some laundry and did some other stuff that I needed to do. My bus comes at 6:35 and I don’t know what do do with myself.

goin to bed cuz im really tired but i dont think itll do me much good cuz im just gona be even more tired tomorrow cuz thats just how i am.... i wish i could declare a national holiday 1nce a week sayin that everyone has to just sleep the whole day... yes, that would be great

Whew Noelle I think you all too right. Why can’t we all just sleep in one day out of the week? You know kuz crazy people don’t sleep in on weekends. We have a "bring a couch" party and just sleep. Every one gets there own couch.

The song of the hour is http://www.geocities.com/zombieprombie/sounds/09.rm

It’s a song from a play I played bass in and it’s just stuck in my head. Kind of exotic or something.

Yesterday we bought a mic stand. Today im going to eat w/ JJ. That’s the news.

Slow Down

(You gotta) slow down, slow down,
sweet talking' woman, slow down,
you got me running, run, run,
you got me searching.
Hold on, hold on, sweet talkin' Lola,
hold on, it's so sad if that's the way it's over.

Some day's I just belt that song at the top of my lungs.
My family usually shakes there head in unbelief that, you know, IM related to them or something. For a certain second they think IM crazy. The crazy-ess.
But
Then Tom joins in. Belting at the top of His lungs.
Our harmonizing lyrics reach intertwine into the depths of the listeners gut and plant seeds of amazement and awe then when bloomed will never be uprooted. Only when Tom and I sing together, like the cooperation of the sun and rain, does the music work its wondrous ways into the hearts of the oh so closed minded apprehender.
Its at about this time that my family realizes im not a nut. I actually am kinda cool.
Tom has saved my reputation like this on far more then one occasion.
Well I gota shows everyday this week and work and all that jazz. The demo might be out Monday. Il keep in touch folks.
